Walk down the bread aisle of any Indian supermarket and almost every loaf claims to be “healthy” in some way: multigrain, brown, high fibre, no maida. The wording on the front of the pack is marketing. The ingredient list and nutrition panel tell the real story.
A few things worth checking before you buy. Where does wheat flour sit in the ingredient list, and is it whole wheat or refined flour, sometimes called maida or atta blends. How much added sugar is in a product that’s supposed to be a staple, not a dessert. And what’s actually providing the fibre, whole grains, or just added bran and additives.
We’re building out full CleanPlate Scores for individual breads on their product pages, so you can see exactly how a specific loaf stacks up on nutrition, ingredients, and risk nutrients. This post will be updated with direct comparisons as more breads are scored.
