Method changelog
The scoring method is frozen at v5.0. It changes only with a new version number and a note on this page.
Every score on CleanPlate records the method version it was made with, and the history on each product page shows when a score moved and why. The method itself is explained in how we score.
Ingredient integrity: no multiplier
Ingredient integrity is now the sum of its processing, additive and hollow-claim parts. The old multiplier and the separate [R] marker were removed. Version number stays v5.0. 121 products changed score.
Method v5.0 published
The full method was written down as one document, and given the version number v5.0.
Drinks and soups: energy limit
Drinks and soups scored as made now count energy above 50 kcal per 100 ml, instead of the solid-food limit. 13 products changed.
Protein lines
A product counts as a source of protein at 5.4 g per 100 g and 12.5% of energy, and as high in protein at 10.8 g and 25% of energy. 23 products changed.
Load risk: energy and cut-offs
Energy now counts in load risk, relative to 275 kcal per 100 g, and the grade cut-offs moved. Nuts are not exempt. 75 products changed.
Three-axis method introduced
The first version of the method as it is used today: nutrition density, ingredient integrity and load risk, each graded on its own. All products were re-scored.
