Our take
CleanPlate reviewAlmost no free sugar, but not quite zero added
Kellogg's Muesli 0% Added Sugar is a mix of whole wheat, corn, rice, barley, oats, ragi and jowar flakes (79.5%) with raisins, black currants, almonds and pumpkin seeds (17.3%), sweetened only by the fruit and a little cereal extract, with added vitamins and iron.
CleanPlate scores it [F][L]BA2. The B for nutrition reflects 6.4 g fibre and 9.3 g protein, lifted by added vitamins and iron; without them it would be a C, hence the [F]. The A for ingredients reflects whole grains and fruit with one antioxidant, no colour or flavouring, less a penalty because the "0% added sugar" name sits beside cereal extract, a malt-type sugar, hence the [L]. The 2 for risk reflects low free sugar, fat and salt.
Claims vs reality
What the pack says, checked against the ingredient list and nutrition panel.
- Product nameMisleading
“0% Added Sugar”
No table sugar is used, but cereal extract, a malt-type sugar, is the third ingredient; the panel declares 0 g added sugar.
- On the packHolds
“High in Protein”
9.3 g per 100 g, enough for the claim on the pack's stated RDA basis; about 3.7 g in a 40 g bowl before milk.
- On the packBe careful
“10g Protein in every serve with milk”
Most of that 10 g comes from the 200 ml of milk, not the muesli.

Common misconceptions
Myth: "No added sugar means no sugar"
It still has 10.7 g sugar per 100 g, mostly from raisins and currants.
Myth: "The milk makes it balanced"
Milk adds protein and calcium, but it does not change the sugar already in the cereal.
How often, and how
- Healthy adultsA good everyday choice
- ChildrenGood everyday choice
- Diabetes or prediabetesA better cereal choice; still pair with protein
Smarter ways to eat it
Add real protein
Stir in curd, a handful of nuts or seeds, or have an egg alongside; cereal and milk alone is a light breakfast.
Keep it unsweetened
Add fresh fruit instead of honey or sugar to keep it low in free sugar.
