Our take

CleanPlate review

Pistachio is 2.5%, with two synthetic dyes

Kwality Wall's Kulfeez Kesar Pista is a kulfi stick of water, milk solids and sugar with pistachio nuts (2.5%), cardamom powder, saffron, two emulsifiers, two stabilisers, nature-identical flavouring and two synthetic colours (102, 110). The pack prints the panel per 60 g serve, converted here to per 100 g; the net weight is not legible on the images.

CleanPlate scores it [R]ED4. The E for nutrition is low: almost no credited protein, fibre or micronutrients per 100 g; its 5.5 g of protein earns no credit because it is under 2.75 g per 100 kcal. The D for ingredients reflects a mix of whole and refined ingredients (led by milk solids, sugar and pistachio nuts), with additives that cost points: carrageenan, flavouring, tartrazine and Sunset Yellow. A red flag (Southampton Six x2) cuts the score by 30%. The 4 for risk comes mainly from saturated fat (9.67 g per 100 g) and free sugar (16.5 g per 100 g).
